Winter Solstice.

The dark time of the year
is a time for hoping
for wondering
for hanging on.
A time for walking out
into the darkness
looking for the light.

The silent time of the year
is a time for listening,
for remembering
for taking stock.
A time for singing out
into the emptiness
of a turning world.

The slow time of the year
is a time for renewal,
for the warmth of fires
for the glow of embers.
A time for clinging on
at the bottom of the ferris wheel
as it waits to rise.
