Living in the moment.

Today it is enough just to be alive in this single second of the world,
Enough to feel the breeze on my back and the salt air in my face,
Enough to see a wave throw itself onto the sand in a rush of sunlight,
And know that my own spark of existence has a place in this beauty.
Today it is enough to know that the world will never look quite like this again.
Enough to know that my eyes are the only ones to possess this moment,
Enough to shout against the wind into the cold air
And hear no echo of ridicule or condemnation.
I have a place here.
