Now this was interesting, especially after Kate Long. Peter Robinson has written around twenty crime novels with DS Banks (a rather dry copper) as their focus. He is clearly a real pro, interested in his sales figures and where his books are sold. He sells a LOT of books and wondered aloud why he doesn’t have as high a profile as Ian Rankin and why the continual options which have been taken out on his books over the years have never borne fruit. There was a sprinkling of slightly over excited male fans of his books there which I found quite funny. Don’t want to make him sound like an egotist because that wasn’t how he came across, but he was definitely there to do a job and no way would I have sidled up to him for any advice.
